What's the difference between a family doctor and an internist?
Family medicine physicians treat patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. Internal medicine physicians (internists) focus exclusively on adults 18 and older. Dr. Aniekwena is a board-certified internist, meaning she specializes specifically in adult medicine, including the more complex conditions that develop with age.
Do I need a referral to see Macie Medical for primary care?
No. Most insurance plans do not require a referral for primary care. Just call to schedule.
Can a primary care doctor prescribe weight loss medication like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro?

Do you offer telehealth visits?
Yes. New and Established patients can schedule telehealth visits for medication refills, follow-ups, and certain sick visits.
What if I don't have insurance?
We offer transparent self-pay rates for office visits, labs, and procedures. Call us before your visit and we’ll give you a clear price.
Do you treat Medicare patients?
Yes. We accept Traditional Medicare and most Medicare Advantage plans. We’re accepting new Medicare patients.
Are lab tests done in-office?
Yes. We have an on-site lab. Most rapid tests (strep, flu, COVID, urinalysis) are read in 20 minutes. Standard blood work collected before 2 PM is usually back the next morning.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes, Spanish-speaking staff are available to assist patients during scheduling and visits.
How often should an adult see a primary care doctor?
Healthy adults should see their PCP at least once a year for an annual physical. Adults with chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol typically need follow-ups every 3–6 months.
